Tunnel under Navigation Pass in Saint Petersburg

Highway tunnel is set under the Navigation Pass and is a part of highway. Total length of the tunnel is 1907 m, including closed part – 1195.0 m, and 2 ramp parts, 356 m each. In its transverse incision the tunnel is a reinforced concrete construction. It is divided into 2 main transport sections - 3 lines in each direction. In the middle of the incision, between transport sections, the project supposes communication and servicing section. The communication section on the adjacent to the navigation pass C-1 is connected with ventilation shafts by outer surface.

The tunnel includes the following facilities:

• Underground section, 1195 m long;
• 2 ramp sections, 356 m long;
• 2 transition sections, 30 m long;
• 3 ventilation shafts;
• 4 cable shafts;
• 3 pump shafts (2 shafts at the portals and 1 shaft in the middle of the tunnel);
• South and Northern treatment facilities.

Specialists of Engineering Center GOChS "BASIS" developed Structured System for Control and Monitoring Engineering Systems of Buildings and Facilities (SMES), as the part of the Section "Engineering and technical activities of civil defense. Emergency prevention activities."

SMES's function at the facility is control and monitoring engineering systems and bearing structures of the facility.
